Reading & Writing Tips
STAGE 1 (1-2 yrs)
Read to your child often
Let your child see you enjoying books
Encourage your child to talk about what they see
Let them play with crayons
Make stories fun with funny voices and sounds
Introduce the alphabet
Point out words around them in signs, posters, etc.
Help their hand- to- eye coordination with simple sport and active games.
TAGE 2 (2-3 yrs)
Let your child turn the pages of the book when you read to them
Use a variety of voices
Choose simple books with clear pictures
Encourage your child to recognize the names and sounds of the letters of the alphabet
Encourage them to recognize letters by tracing over them
Allow them to pay with a pencil and crayons.
STAGE 3 ( 3-5 yrs)
Enjoy sharing rhymes and interactive books
Let your child talk about books you read together
Choose short stories keep reading sessions brief
Read stories more than once so that you can enjoy them together
Give lots of praise
Help them write their name with a capital letter at the start
Encourage them to experiment with writing.
